April Lockhart
April Lockhart, born in 1995 on the 4th of July, began taking piano and guitar lessons from age seven. She was interested in writing songs was ignited. April's first song was Different, which she wrote at 12 years of age. When she was 14 April spent a lot of time to making song lyrics and working on her musical skills. She began writing along with her dad at home in NY and LA soon after. April started to include other subjects in Take My Hand for her friends who were dealing with peer pressure, disabilities or even suicide. Lockhart works in partnerships at famous cosmetics brand Ilia and is also an influencer in the lifestyle industry with a huge following of her own. Born without a left hand, she has a significant part to play in herself. But it's not the only thing she has to tell. Because of this, her Instagram account isn't afraid to talk about her disability, but it's not focused on the issue neither. What message is it sending? There is more to us than our physical selves. Our identities are complicated and we contain many different elements. Lockhart, via video message from Nashville home, says that I do not want this to define my character. I'm far more than just my physical self. My day-today life is not affected by it. I lead a normal day-to-day life and discover my own solutions to problems. In addition, I see that it is a crucial aspect of me. Lockhart who is an source of inspiration for anyone who wants to be self-accepting she is on a long process to attain the goal. Even so, Lockhart admits to going through periods that made her feel uncomfortable about her appearance as well as wearing clothes with arms. The woman now puts on whatever clothes she wishes and shares pictures on Facebook in awe. The self-love she talks about is a journey. It's not clear whether you'll get to the end. However, I believe that's the case common to everyone regardless of what their insecurity is. People you associate yourself with, who know your personal story and who can look through your eyes are the ones you should be relying on who can remind you of the things you're concerned about.
